When people say the medium is the message. I think Mos Def took it to the next level:
Def is putting out his latest album The Ecstatic as a shirt. The music tee has the album’s cover art on the front, tracklist on the back and a code for a downloadable version of the album on a tag. The medium (not to mention the S, L, XL and XXL) is the message.
This is a great idea. I just hope we don’t see an over saturation of the market with this. This also reminds of Year Zero, which is an alternate reality game (ARG) based on the Nine Inch Nails concept album from a few years ago. I know concert tees were also used as part of the way a message was sent in the ARG.
